The History

National Donut Day was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor the "Donut Lassies" who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. The day also serves as a fundraiser for the Salvation Army's social services programs.

How To Celebrate

Host a company-wide donut breakfast or coffee break to bring employees together and boost morale. You could also support a local business by partnering with a neighborhood donut shop to offer special discounts or promotions to your customers or employees.

If your team is remote, consider sending a digital cash gift card like Giftly so your employees can buy a donut wherever they live. Then get everybody together on a videoconferencing call and enjoy some social time together.

This is also a great opportunity to offer to match donations from your employees to the Salvation Army and support the nonprofit.

The History

Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the United States flag on June 14, 1777, by the Second Continental Congress. The day celebrates the history and symbolism of the American flag.

How To Celebrate

Encourage employees to wear red, white, and blue to work and share photos on social media to promote unity and company culture.

You can also celebrate by Inviting a veterans organization to host an educational event or workshop to teach employees about the history and etiquette of the American flag. Flag Day is also a chance to make corporate donations to local veterans organizations.

How To Celebrate

Offer special promotions or flexible digital cash gift cards for fathers who are customers or employees of your business.

Father’s Day is also a good time to connect with your customers. Promote your company values by sharing stories or photos of employees with their fathers or children on social media

If you’re an in-person company, you could host a father-child event or activity to strengthen family bonds and promote work-life balance.

The History

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that all enslaved people were free, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

How To Celebrate

Make a point on this holiday to support Black-owned businesses in your community by partnering with them or promoting their products or services.

You should also consider organizing a company-wide volunteer event or fundraiser to support organizations that promote racial equality and justice.
